Will You Take The Challenge?
For the last 30 days, I have been answering one reflection question each day and I have learned so much about myself as an educator. Responsibility - why is it so hard for them to grasp that concept? I've taught for 25 years and it seems that over the years, kids have become less and less responsible, and I'm not sure why. At times I feel like they simply don't know what it means to be responsible and take care of their own "things." As parents, are we no longer expecting enough from our children? Have parents become too busy and distracted with extra curricular activities that teaching responsibility has been placed in the back seat? I don't have the answer, but I do know that it's a topic which needs to be addressed in order to prepare our students to be successful in life.
